Good News! Word has it that with the March 24 failure of the Republicans to repeal Obama’s Affordable Care Act, national single payer healthcare is back on the table. Our own Bernie Sanders announced Friday he plans to submit a bill in the next couple of weeks.)
In the meantime, our task force has been focused on the single-payer healthcare legislation in Massachusetts–the Medicare for All Bill in Massachusetts. (And we’re happy to report that the bill was co-sponsored by all Franklin County representatives–Paul Mark, Stephen Kulik and Adam Hinds.)
To build support for the bill, we have been collecting data on town health care costs to compare with cost savings that would result from single payer healthcare. We also ask FCCPR members to consider submitting a resolution (see sample) to their Town Meetings to support the Medicare for All in Massachusetts bill.
On Tuesday, March 28, at 6:15 p.m. in the UMass Student Union Ballroom Sen. Stan Rosenberg is hosting a Town Hall Forum and we ask FCCPR members to join task force members in attending and showing support for the Medicare for All in Massachusetts bill.
