Local
Elections

As
was announced at our last General Assembly, Sheila Gilmour a member
of the FCCPR coordinating committee is running for Mayor of
Greenfield. At that GA, the members adopted some modifications to
the FCCPR candidate endorsement policy, that outlined the endorsement
procedures for Town elections. Greenfield members of FCCPR have
selected an endorsement committee which will soon begin interviewing
candidates for the municipal elections in Greenfield.

Changing
the State Flag & Seal

Thanks
to Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution’s Susan Triolo
– who introduced the warrant article at Sunderland Annual Town
Meeting this evening with a brilliant speech in support of changing
the Massachusetts Flag and Seal, and offered a powerful pacifist
rebuttal of a patriot who rose to defend the continued use of the
Latin motto on the Seal (By the Sword we seek peace, but peace only
under liberty) the town of Sunderland voted 46 to 17 to support
H.2776 / S.1877 and change the flag and seal.

Racial
Justice Rising’s Scott Reed was instrumental in gathering the
required signatures to get the article on the town meeting warrant
and in organizing community support. He and Susan did a fantastic job
– and Sunderland vote will be heard.
