Campaign Finance Reform Task Force Highlights As of March 26, 2017

The Campaign Finance Reform Task Force is working on combining two major areas of progressive reform:  Anti-corruption campaigns and the ranked choice voting campaign.

Several members of the task force have submitted warrant articles to their Town Meetings based on Represent.Us’ American Anti-corruption Act; We the People Act, and FreeSpeechforpeople.org.  These efforts are focused on the unjust influence of the powerfully rich to supplant the voices of the majority.

We encourage other FCCPR members to submit warrant articles to your Spring or Fall Town Meetings based on the American Anti-Corruption Act or supporting the repeal of Citizens’ United.  Our task force would be glad to give support.

Ranked Choice Voting is used in 11 states.  We believe this is important because currently American voters are constantly reduced to voting for the “lesser of two evils.”  Gerrymandering allows incumbent legislators to draw district lines to their benefit & big money keeps them in office.

Independent and third party voices go unheard.  Ranked Choice Voting will open up the system, and give voters the opportunity to rank the candidates in order of preference.

We are also currently researching campaign contributions to our local & state legislators, and which committees they sit on in the State House.
